Oh Man!
Annnnnyways, before I get into anything, I have introduce you all to my sister's lovely blog. My sisters Shining and Kathleen are currently in Shanghai studying Chinese, and they're living with a friend of mine who's only a year older than I am (and also goes to NYU). It's pretty much just them three in the house, and they have someone to come over and cook for them. For 14-15 year olds, that's pretty intense of an experience. However, they are managing themselves just fine, and Shining has all these awesome stories to tell on her blog. You should go read them. They are hilarious.
On the other hand, my family is finally getting used to my boyfriend being around, which is kind of nice. In fact, my little brother's favorite person to play with besides his dad is Donovan. That makes me really happy because my grandparents are beginning to see that he's a nice and gentle person, instead of just thinking, 'he's white. Why can't you date a chinese guy?' A few days ago, Brian missed Donovan so much that he concocted in his mind that Dono was over, so when we were all going to eat lunch, he literally stood at the staircase, refused to move, and kept calling for Donovan to come eat. It was really adorable. My baby brother is two years and two months old btw. He's sooooooo cute. I really should take more pictures because he's finally able to brush his teeth without swallowing now, annnnnnd he has the cutest grin when he's trying to brush.
This past week, I finally picked up guitar practicing again. In fact, I pretty decided that I need to practice everything instead of wasting time, cause I'm reaaaaally good at that. I'm not exactly a lazy person, but I don't spend my time efficiently, and I don't utilize my talents that God have given me to the best of my abilities. Thus, I've been reading this parable a lot to remind myself not to do that. This is the parable of the talents from Matthew 25:14-30.
"Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. 15To one he gave five talents[a] of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16The man who had received the five talents went at once and put his money to work and gained five more. 17So also, the one with the two talents gained two more. 18But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money.
19"After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20The man who had received the five talents brought the other five. 'Master,' he said, 'you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.'
21"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'
22"The man with the two talents also came. 'Master,' he said, 'you entrusted me with two talents; see, I have gained two more.'
23"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'
24"Then the man who had received the one talent came. 'Master,' he said, 'I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.'
26"His master replied, 'You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.
28" 'Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. 29For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. 30And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'
*A talent was equivalent to close to $1000.Anyhoo...so I read that, and I was like, "Man, I'm just like the guy who digs the hole. I'm doing nothing but creating excuses for myself, and I'm not utilizing my talents." Thus, I'm turning over a new leaf. I've decided that it's 10 hours of guitar, and 10 hours of vocal practice every week for me from now on. And on that note...now I'm gonna go play my guitar. Charlie (my guitar instructor) has got me working on some lead stuff finally, so I'm trying to learn the guitar solo to Bob Marley's In Vain. Teehee...get some of that bending action. Welp, toodles!
Will try to post more later.
